MINUTES

Cresco Theatre Commission

The Cresco Theatre Commission met Tuesday, April 9thth, 2024, at 5:30 PM in Champlin Hall.  Members present were David Gosch, Kelly Bartling, Ann Seebach,  Steve Lickteig  and Julie Wilson.  Kari Waterbeck was unable to attend.  Guests:  Wendy Lickteig, Cresco Theatre Manager, Joe Wacha, Cresco Community Theatre, and Stan Fosaaen, City Council.

The April agenda, March minutes, and financials were reviewed.  Steve Lickteig made the motion to approve, seconded by Julie Wilson, and unanimously approved by the Commission.

Wendy Lickteig presented the manager’s report.  There were 134 attendees at the Mitchell Hall Show.  Movie choices are improving.  Upcoming live shows were discussed, with several needing sponsors.  The ramp is in need of repair.  Two quotes have been obtained, one from Midwest Concrete, and the other from Mudslingers.  Steve Lickteig will follow up with both companies to discuss their different ideas for repair.

Old Business:

  1. Friends of Theatre-Have been assisting when needed.
  2. Theatre Seats-Wendy Lickteig has been in contact with Billmyer’s and Lynn Scheidel getting estimates/options.
  3. Scene Shop-The Commission received an updated plan, and will now look to get more precise estimates of cost.

New Business:

  1. Fundraising-Will commence when plan is finalized.
  2. 110 Year Anniversary-Plans continue for August 24th, 2024. Looney Lutherans are scheduled that day at 2:00, and a free outdoor movie is being planned.
  3. Next meeting dates: May 6th, 2024.   Motion to approve  was made by Ann Seebach, seconded by Kelly Bartling, and unanimously approved by the Commission.

Comments:

  1. Comments from Community Theatre-Joe Wacha shared that he, Kelly Bartling, and David Gosch attended the Iowa Theatre Association Convention on April 6th.  They received a wealth of information on possible grant opportunites.
  2. Comments from Chamber-Set to attend a Rural Housing Meeting in Des Moines.
  3. Comments from City Council-Stan Fosaaen had nothing new to report.
  4. Comments from the Audience-None

Steve Lickteig made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Kelly Bartling and unanimously approved by the Commission.
