MINUTES

Cresco Theatre Commission

The Cresco Theatre Commission met Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 5:30 PM in Champlin Hall.  Members present were David Gosch, Kelly Bartling, Kari Waterbeck, Ann Seebach, and Julie Wilson.  Steve Lickteig was unable to attend.  Guests:  Wendy Lickteig, Cresco Theatre Manager, Joe Wacha, Cresco Community Theatre, and Stan Fosaaen, City Council.

The August agenda, July minutes, and financials were reviewed.  Ann Seebach made the motion to approve, seconded by Kari Waterbeck, and unanimously approved by the Commission.

Wendy Lickteig presented the manager’s report.     Wendy shared that feedback from showing the Sunday movie with closed captioning has been positive.  The movie “Twisters” was well attended.  Wendy hopes to start offering movies in Spanish in September, with showings on Monday or Tuesday.  The ice machine is in need of repair.  The Commission offered suggestions as to who could fix it.

Old Business:

  1. Friends of Theatre-Will be called into action for upcoming live performances in September.
  2. Theatre Seats-Nothing new to report.
  3. Scene Shop-There will be a meeting with the architect and electrical engineer on August 15th.

New Business:

  1. Fundraising-The Commission is asked to gather more ideas for future raffles.  (items, value, timing of raffles)
  2. 110 Year Anniversary-Plans continue for August 24th, 2024. Looney Lutherans are scheduled that day at 2:00, and a free outdoor movie is being planned.
  3. Sponsorships: All Commission members are to actively seek sponsors for upcoming live performances.
  4. Next meeting dates: September 9th, 2024.   Motion to approve was made by Julie Wilson, seconded by Kari Waterbeck, and unanimously approved by the Commission.

  3. Comments from City Council-Stan Fosaaen shared that the play was great and that he was very impressed. He did ask about ads in the paper for the play.

Kari Waterbeck made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Kelly Bartling and unanimously approved by the Commission.
