MINUTES
Mayor Brenno called the Cresco City Council budget worksession to order on December 18, 2023, at 4:00 pm. Council Members Kriener, McConnell, Fortune, Bouska, and Carman were present. No council members were absent.
City Clerk Elton presented the proposed budget for FY25. Property tax revenues are negatively impacted by HF718 passed by the State Legislature last year. The Regular General Levy will only increase property tax revenue by $2,300 this year. Revenues are lower than expected due to the residential rollback from 55% down to 46%. The taxable valuation increase of less than 1% was much lower than the 16% total valuation increase due to the rollback and exemptions. The General Funds have a budgeted loss of $132,111 and an overall loss of $651,361 so cuts need to be made to the budget requests.
Project and equipment purchase requests were reviewed and some items were moved to future fiscal years.
Recommended changes will be made to the budget and another budget worksession may be scheduled.
Kriener moved to adjourn the worksession at 5:27 pm. McConnell seconded and it passed all ayes. The next regular Cresco City Council meeting will be December 18, 2023, at 5:30 pm at Cresco City Hall.
Mayor David J. Brenno
City Clerk Michelle Elton
