MINUTES
Cresco Theatre Commission
President David Gosch called the meeting to order on December 11th, 2023, at 5:30 PM. In attendance were: David Gosch, Kari Waterbeck, Ann Seebach and Julie Wilson. Kelly Bartling and Steve Lickteig were unable to attend. Guests: Wendy Lickteig, Cresco Theatre Manager, and Joe Wacha, Cresco Community Theatre.
The December agenda, November minutes and financials were reviewed. Ann Seebach made the motion to approve, seconded by Kari Waterbeck and unanimously approved by the Commission.
Wendy Lickteig presented the manager’s report. Wendy reported that the free movies have been well-attended, there have been lots of Champlin Hall rentals, and that she has been working on the live events schedule. Upcoming events include: 1/28-Oneota Film Festival, 4/14-Root River Jam, 4/21-Fitness Center Dance Recital, 9/21-Colton Snider, 11/24 or 12/1-The Looney Lutherans. There are some other acts that are currently trying to schedule. Wendy has hired Donavyn Gosch at the rate of $9.00/hour for special events. Julie Wilson made a motion to approve, seconded by Ann Seebach and unanimously approved by the Commission.
Old Business:
- Friends of Theatre-Will help make and bag popcorn for school movie.
- Theatre Seats-No report at this time.
- Scene Shop Committee-Meeting at 6:30.
New Business:
- Fundraising: Ideas will be shared at the 6:30 Scene Shop Meeting.
- 110 Year Anniversary-August of 2024: The Commission has planned for the Looney Lutherans to perform at Harvest Fest. Free matinees will be shown in honor of the 110th The Commission plans to show “The Wizard of Oz” on 1/21, “The Odd Couple” on 2/25, and “Fiddler on the Roof” on 3/24. These matinees will be at 2:00 and will be staffed by CTC and CCT members.
- Next Meeting Date- January 8th, 2024 to be followed by Scene Shop Fundraising Committee meeting. Kari Waterbeck made the motion to approve, seconded by Ann Seebach and unanimously approved by the Commission.
Comments:
- Community Theatre-Joe Wacha reported that CCT will be performing “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” as a dinner theatre at the Heritage Events Center on the weekend of April 5th and 6th, 2024. This will be a fundraiser for the new Scene Shop. CCT will have their Holiday Party on January 9th at 7:00.
- Chamber-On December 18-19th, The Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame will be showing “The Dual.” Jim Gibbons and Dan Gable will be there to speak. Commission members will assist with the event.
