THIS NOTICE IS GIVEN PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 21, CODE OF IOWA AND THE LOCAL RULES OF SAID GOVERNMENTAL BODY. POSTED: January 10, 2023.

MINUTES

Board Member Herold called the Cresco Park and Recreation meeting to order on 12/14/2022, at at the Cresco Fitness Center (CFC). Board Members Denner, Ernst, Hovden and O’Brien were present.

Also Present: Brandon Kerian and Wendy Bohr

O’Brien made the motion to approve the consent agenda which included the approval of the agenda; claims, and minutes of the November 17, 2022 meeting. Ernst seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.

Kerian reported on the Fitness Center: Memberships 684 – up members!

Denner made the motion to rehire Emily Voyna and a new lifeguard, Kenzie Shay. Ernst seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.

24/7 Campaign: Made some changes to the equipment upgrades and 24/7 push. These changes cut $82,000 in costs.

Events: Lots of new and exciting classes/events are being offered this winter to engage the community: workout classes, youth camps, winter biggest loser, triathlons, swim nights, movie nights, etc.

Kerian reported on Parks: East Park Update: Musical Equipment from donation is in. Won’t be installed until this spring. Waiting for the weather to get cold enough to fill the ice rink.

Kerian reported on Recreation: Current sessions are going great. Lots of volunteers. New Programs: Adding Youth Dance and Youth Cheer; they will be 4-5 months long with a recun•ing monthly fee. Working on finalizing details for Biddy Basketball: Will be for 1st and 2nd graders one day a week for 30-45 minutes. It would be co-ed and would need parents/volunteers to help coach.

Denner moved to adjourn at 6:05 pm. Ernst seconded and it passed all ayes. The next regular Cresco Park and Rec meeting is scheduled for January 11 at 5:30 pm at CFC.
