THIS NOTICE IS GIVEN PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 21, CODE OF IOWA AND THE LOCAL RULES OF SAID GOVERNMENTAL BODY. POSTED: July 16, 2024.
MINUTES
Kerian called the Cresco Park and Recreation meeting to order on 7/17/2024, at 12:01pm at the Cresco Fitness Center (CFC). Board Members Denner, Herold, Hovden and O’Brien were present.
Also Present: Brandon Kerian and Rich McConnell
Denner made the motion to approve the consent agenda which included the approval of the agenda; claims, and minutes of the June 12, 2024 meeting. Hovden seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.

Election of Officers: Hovden made the motion to appoint Dave Herold as the Park and Rec Board Chair. O’Brien seconded the motion and it passed. Herold abstained.
Kerian reported on the Fitness Center: Memberships – 804
Arts+ Program Salary: Previous discussion around Arts and Craft salary to be reduced to better align with hourly employees (from $1300.00 to $600.00 based on hourly rate and hours worked) wasn’t fully communicated with the instructor who was under the impression she would be paid the full $1300.00 instead of $600.00. Next year will implement a Letter of Assignment to lock in price/class expectations. Hovden made a motion to pay Kelli Gosch an additional $700 to cover the Arts and Crafts Program full salary of $1300.00 (she was already paid $600.00). Denner seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.
New Building Update: Kerian met with Emergent to go over more ideas. Shared a very basic sample. Still no cost discussed. Need to start thinking of a committee to lead some of these conversations.
Kerian reported on Parks: Evans Park Playground is the next park project to hopefully be completed next fiscal year. Discussed making it an All-Inclusive playground.
Kerian reported on Recreation: Summer Recreation programs are wrapping up. Overall, happy with how they went. Enjoyed the new camps they have offered and have had great participation. Already thinking of Fall Recreation: Volleyball and Flag Football.
Hovden moved to adjourn at 12:26 pm. Denner seconded and it passed all ayes.
The next regular Cresco Park and Rec meeting is scheduled for August 14 at 12:00 pm at CFC.
