THIS NOTICE IS GIVEN PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 21, CODE OF IOWA AND THE LOCAL RULES OF SAID GOVERNMENT BODY, POSTED DECEMBER 5TH, 2024.

MINUTES

The Cresco Theatre Commission met Monday, December 9th, 2024, at 5:30 PM in Champlin Hall.

Members present were Kelly Bartling, David Gosch, Ann Seebach, and Julie Wilson.  Kari Waterbeck and Steve Lickteig were unable to attend.  Guests:  Wendy Lickteig, Cresco Theatre Manager, Joe Wacha, Cresco Community Theatre, and Stan Fosaaen City Council.

The December agenda, October minutes, and November financials were reviewed.  Ann Seebach made the motion to approve, seconded by Kelly Bartling, and unanimously approved by the Commission.

Wendy Lickteig presented the manager’s report.     Wendy reported that the Looney Lutherans had 160 attendees, The Toys for Tots Concert was well attended, Charles Dickens performance had 30 attendees, and the  first free holiday movie was a hit.  There will be another free movie on January 2:  Moana 2” will be shown.  The Oneota Film Fest will be using the Theatre at the end of January.  Ann Seebach made a motion, seconded by Julie Wilson, and unanimously approved by the Commission to receive in-kind advertising as the payment for their rental.  The Luren Singers will be needing risers for their performance the last weekend in March.  Wendy will ask Crestwood High School if we may use their risers.  Wendy also reported that the Theatre may be switching their beverage vendor to Coke instead of Pepsi in the near future.

Old Business:

  1. Friends of Theatre-help will be needed again in the spring.
  2. Theatre Seats-this is on the CIP Plan for the city.
  3. Scene Shop-Plans are proceeding, and will be taken to City Council next month.

New Business:

  1. Fundraising-Meeting was held on 12/9. See minutes from that meeting.  The next meeting will be on 1/13 at 6:15 pm.
  2. Commission Members-Applications were reviewed, and the Commission selected Gayle Kelm. Here name will be presented at the next City Council Meeting on January 6th, 2025.
  3. Next meeting date: January 13th, 2025.   Motion to approve was made by Kelly Bartling, seconded by Julie Wilson, and unanimously approved by the Commission.

Julie Wilson made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Kelly Bartling and unanimously approved by the Commission.
