The Cresco Fitness Center is currently accepting applications for part-time position(s) of Lifeguards and Front Desk Workers.

Job Description

CITY OF CRESCO

Cresco Fitness Center

POSITION: Lifeguard

WAGES: $10.00 per hour with advancement to $12.00 per hour.

 HOURS: Flexible: mornings, evenings, & weekends preferred

 

 

General Description:  Under the direction of the Park Director and Fitness Center Manager, oversee and regulate daily operations of the swimming pool. Enforce rules and ensure the safety of all persons in the fitness center/swimming pool.

 

Fitness Center/Indoor Pool Duties: Monitor safety of persons using swimming pool facility by following established lifeguarding procedures. Rescue swimmers in distress and perform necessary lifesaving CPR or first aid procedures. Assist in the daily upkeep of the deck, pool, and locker rooms. Assist with other maintenance tasks associated with the entire facility as needed. Teach swimming lessons, assist with other swimming programs, and any other duties deemed necessary.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:  Able to effectively communicate, teach, and interact with the general public (children & adults). Provide accurate and prompt information to patrons to the best of your ability. Ability to handle stressful situations and multitask effectively. Knowledge of general cleaning methods and ability to operate maintenance equipment.

 

Education and Experience:  Must be at least 15 years old. Preferred certifications: Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid & CRP/AED. Hired individuals will be required to obtain Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CRP/AED certification.

 WAGE: $11.50 per hour with advancement to $13.50+ per hour.

HOURS: Varied – evening, weekend, and random daytimes

 

General Description: Maintains control of the front desk and accommodates patron’s requests while under the supervision of the Cresco Fitness Center management.

 

Fitness Center/Indoor Pool Duties: Greet and check in all patrons of the Cresco Fitness Center.  Record patron information and maintain confidentiality.  Provide callers with general information in regards to the facility and any related programs. Perform general office duties and routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in addition to any other related duties that are deemed necessary by management for customer satisfaction or facility efficiency.  Operate computer-based cash register and computer. Assist with lifeguarding schedule/duties as necessary.

 

Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to interact with the public, co-workers, management, and other public officials in a courteous manner.  Ability to proficiently operate office equipment, maintains orderly records and files, and applies basic mathematics.  The ability to operate computer, cash register, and general cleaning tools; ability to follow oral or written instructions; along with good management and organizational skills.  Ability to obtain lifeguard certification.

 

Education and Experience: High school graduate, G.E.D. or equivalent education in experience.  Preferred certificates: Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid, and CPR.
